April Meeting Minutes

SYHA Board Meeting
April 4th, 2007 – 7:00 PM

Members Presents:  Dan Gilkerson, Kris Wroblewski, John Gauper, Deb Quaderer, Jim Marty, Cherie Link, Justin Lambert, Steve Hartke, Michelle Manz 

Meeting called to order by John G. 

Approved minutes:  Motion by Jim M, 2nd by Deb Q. 

Financial report submitted. Motion to approve by Cherie L, 2nd by Kris W. 

Committee:

  1. Building maintenance report – we reviewed our electrical bill to see the changes from the new capacitor. Dan is meeting with him tomorrow to ask questions and confirm its’ functionality.
  2. Jim is going to be studding the walls for the new skate sharpening room.
  3. Concessions have been closed during this slower time, however we have the vending machine well stocked.

New Business

  1. Girls program – Justin is working with New Richmond (and maybe Amery) to get this off the ground for U10 and U12 (as soon as they reach Mites). We will table this for additional discussion at our next meeting.
  2. Elections – Cherie will print out a master list of the association members. We will post the ballot on the website for them to print and set up a time to drop off or submit it electronically to Dan. Voting will begin tomorrow and run thru May 1. Each family is allowed one vote per skater.
  3. Vice President – position voted on by the board. Randy Weiderin was unanimously voted in.
  4. Breakfast Club – we are thinking of offering a program from September – December and January for kids to have a simple practice in the mornings that may include breakfast and bus transportation to the school. Justin will look into further.
  5. Dan is meeting with Twin States to get a game room set up.
  6. April 29 Hockey Banquet – We will request coaches to not hand out individual awards and each will have 2 minutes to re-cap the season. Dan will work with Heather G to get the PA system set up and the potluck.
  7. Circus:
    1. We will send out a press release this week and in 2 weeks. We are doing a New Richmond News flier insert next week. Posters have been distributed. We will have fliers in back-pack mail (Kris will coordinate the Somerset Elem. & MS, Cherie will coordinate St. Annes, Michelle will coordinate Osceola). Cherie will have Brett design a ½ page flier and e-mail to Michelle to get printed. Dan will talk with the village to see about hanging a banner in town.
  8. Fundraiser
    1. John Gauper and John Montpetit working on a Sportsmans Banquet at General Sam’s. It would be similar to a Duck Unlimited banquet with tickets and raffle items. Looking at September.
